Procedure for Renewal/Issuance of Passports (for Bangladesh Nationals working in the UAE)

A 17 digit number is required for the issuance of Machine Readable Passport (MRP) which can be either the National Identity (NID) number or Birth Registration Certificate (BRC) number of the applicant. The expatriate Bangladeshis who do not have NID number can use their online Birth Registration Certificate (BRC) number which can be brought from Bangladesh. 

Hand Written Passport to Machine Readable Passport (MRP)

Requirements:

(1) Online application has to be made from the following link http://passport.gov.bd.

(2) Fill-out online MRP form and take a print with the Bar Code.

(3) Documents need to attach with the MRP form:

  • Two copies of recent passport size photograph to be affixed on top of the 1st page and duly attested on top of the picture by authorized attester. If the applicant is a child under the age of 15, parents’ photos are required to be appended on the application form. In certain cases, either of the parent’s photos will be accepted.
  • A copy of applicants National Identification (NID) card or Birth Registration Certificate (BRC) containing 17 digits and 13 digits respectively.
  • Copies of information/data pages of applicant’s existing Bangladesh Passport (valid or expired) along with the original passport itself.
  • Original Payment Slip of applicable fees.

(4) After filling up the online MRP form and fulfilling all above mentioned formalities applicant should appear for the interview before the authorized officer of the Embassy.

Re-Issue of Machine Readable Passports (MRPs): 

  • Fill up the prescribed Re-issue form. This form can be found in the Embassy website or DIP website or in Embassy front desk free of cost.
  • Enclose copies of existing MRP’s information pages and latest visa page.
  • Bring existing original MRP at the time of depositing MRP fee and enrollment.
  • The old/existing MRP has to be shown to the operator for cross reference and it will be refunded after necessary checking & completing the enrollment.
  • Attach a copy of 17-digit birth certificate and 17/13-digit National ID which was submitted at the time of issuing the existing MRP.
  • If any applicant wants to correct/alter any information of the existing MRP (such as name, parents name, spouse name, marital status, permanent address, Profession etc.), please attach necessary document as proof of your correction/alteration & also fill-out prescribed form(s). For correction: one has to fill-out DIP form 1 & DIP form 2 and those form can be found in the following link and Embassy website. For change of profession as a technical expert i.e. Engineer, Physician, Legal Practitioner, Teacher, Driver etc. please attach a certified/attested copy of Education/Professional certificate along with the application. Applicant advised not to change any information of the exiting MRP unless it is typing mistake or mandatory to change.
  • Attach original applicable MRP re-issue fees Payment Slip with the filled-in re-issue form.
  • Come to the Embassy in person with filled-in MRP re-issue form with required all documents for furnishing the enrollment.

Machine Readable Passport for New Born & Child (up to 3 years old):

 (1) Online MRP application has to be made from the following link www.passport.gov.bd or embassy website.

(2) Documents required:

  • Copy of the filled-in MRP application form (4 pages with bar-code) duly attested by approved attester or signed by the authorized officer of the Embassy. Address and seal of the attester must be provided at page-4 of the form.
  • Birth Registration Certificate (contains 17-digit number) of the child and copies of Bangladesh passport of parents. BRC can be processed from the Bangladesh Embassy.
  • 02(two) copies 3R size photographs of the child (name should be mentioned on the back side) and photographs of the parents.
  • Attested copies of Marriage Certificate and Nikahnama of the parents. Marriage Certificate and Nikahnama should be attested by the Ministry of Law, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Bangladesh Embassy.

(3) A new born baby & child (upto 3 years old) does not require to come to the Embassy for biometrics.

 

Lost Passport: MRP or Hand Written

Applicants, who wish to apply for new MRP against their lost Bangladesh passport, are requested to follow the entire MRP procedure mentioned in the web page before. They are further requested to bring following documents:

  1. A detailed police report.
  2. News paper advertisement.
  3. Cop of previous/lost Passport and Visa.
  4. A letter from the sponsor.
  5. Two copies of recent photograph.
  6. Copy of BRC or NID or Emirates ID.
  7. Hand written application describing how he/she lost the passport.
  8. 4-pages online MRP application form.

Process of Submission of the Application and Making MRPs Ready for Delivery:

Applicant has to be appeared in person to the MRP station for taking their biometric information. Applicants need to collect token to get enter into the MRP room.  Applicant’s Finger Prints, Signature in Electronic Pad and Photograph will be taken at the biometric-enrolment booth at the Embassy and submitted application to the Department of Immigration & Passport in Dhaka through the system.

After verifying their payment, backend information, biometric information application sent to DIP Dhaka for printing. After quality checking printed MRPs are sent to the Embassy for make it ready to use.

After receiving the MRPs boxes in the Embassy, the MRPs are unpacked, received by the system, stamped, signed, tagged, issued by the system, sorted and make ready for delivery. Completing all these jobs MRPs stored carefully to deliver to the applicant in within the inscribed delivery date.

Delivery of passport:

It may take 30-40 working days for regular delivery of MRP by the Embassy. Applicants are advised to come in the Embassy to collect their MRPs on the date mentioned in the delivery slip. If required applicants may know their MRP Application Status by visiting DIP website (www.dip.gov.bd) or by sending e-mail ([email protected]) or by calling through mobile (056 611 7215).

Applicants who come to take the delivery of their MRPs on the given date should drop their delivery slips on the Red Box placed on the ground floor from 8.00 am – 11.00 am. Delivery team will collect delivery slip every hour and deliver MRPs to the respective applicants. The applicant shall come to the Embassy in person along with original delivery slip & applicant’s previous/reference Bangladesh Passport and receive new MRP after signing on the delivery slip. New MRPs will be handed over along with the old passport.

Company representative should show their company ID, Emirate ID before collecting the MRPs to the Delivery Team. Company passports will be delivered every opening day after 2.00 pm and they will submit their delivery slips on the previous day. Company representative should ensure taking signature of every applicant on the original delivery slips.

MRP Fees and Mode of Payment:

For ordinary labor and student MRP fee is AED125.00. MRP fee is determined based on applicant’s Visa category and valid student IDs.

For family members (unemployed family members including newborn babies and housewives) and professionals’ MRP fee is AED405.00. It is determined based on their visa category.

Passport fees can be deposited either in the Bangladesh Embassy counter or in any branches of the UAE Exchange in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Madinat Zayed. At the Bangladesh Embassy Counter applicant can deposit MRP Fees from 8.00 AM to 12.00 Noon.

Schedule of Work at a Glance:

Deposit of MRP Fee at the Embassy Counter: from 10.000 am to 11.00 am.

Token will be given from 9.00 am to 10.00 am

Enrollment Application and Biometric: from 8.30 am to 1.00 pm.

Token will be given from 8.00 am to 12.00 noon.

Applicant who deposits their MRP fees in the UAE Exchange outlets around Abu Dhabi should come according the schedule date and time given in the deposit receipt for enrollment and biometric.

Delivery of MRPs: Drop of Delivery Slip from 8.00am to 11.00 am. Delivery of passport from 9.15 am to 12.00 noon. Company passports will be delivered after 3.00 pm every Monday and Thursday.
